As soon as my friend and I heard that the The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk exhibition was coming to Melbourne excitement levels peaked and a trip to the NGV was planned.

The exhibition celebrated fashion by JPG and all the artistry behind it, something my friend and I highly appreciated. The wonderful creations by JPG were presented in themes and eras, showcasing the monumental pieces and highlighting the construction behind them. There were so many rooms each with different decor to uniquely present the collections by JPG. Each new room I entered I was taken aback by the decor, photographs and the meticulously designed pieces of clothing. It was also pretty awesome seeing pieces worn by Beyonce and Lady Gaga in well-known performances, you can witness with your own eyes the but size of Queen B!

Travel Make-up

IMG_8504

I usually don't wear a lot of make-up on a daily basis, but i brought a bit more on my travels for potential nights out. I am usually just a foundation, bit of concealer, eyeliner and mascara kinda girl, but sometimes the eyeshadow, blush and bronzer comes out to play.

Since travelling abroad I have realised the price discrepancies in Australian prices and else where. I may be doing too much shopping in Sephora and other beauty stores at the moment (shhh haha). I need to take advantage of the lower prices and wider range of brands.

The price increases in Australia are warranted in some aspects but sometimes the prices can be much more steeper, especially in beauty products. I find that beauty brands, mostly the higher end brands also do not usually have discounts or promotions, so we are stuck with the high prices all year round. Fortunately I found a site with great beauty deals and coupons, so we don’t have to break the bank each time we want to get that pretty lipstick or blush. Instead of being stuck in a rut of the same steep prices we can finally find cosmetics discounted or on promotion. YAY!

What are beauty prices like in your country?

Black and White in Florence

Shoes: Betts
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I’m currently travelling across Europe and living out of a suitcase, which means very minimal amount of choices and variety in my outfits (there will be lots of outfit repeating). These outfit photos were taken near Piazzale Michelangelo and in the courtyard of a library in Florence, Italy. My friend and I were trying to kill some time before hopping onto a bus to the airport, so we sat in the courtyard using the free wifi. The concept of free wifi now has so much more importance in our lives, seeing as we don’t have our regular mobile phone reception.

Playsuits time

Playsuit: Ally, Bag: Oroton, Shoes: Asos
Photos at NGV by Sezen

Summer time is approaching here in Australia; yay for warmer weather! I can wear playsuits, except my very white legs are still in winter mode. I love when I can wake up and take my dog for a walk without seeing my breath in the air. It's pretty great to also to just chuck on a dress or playsuit in the morning, it definitely saves of lot of time for me getting ready in the morning. I'm one of those people who stares at their closet each morning ummming and ahhhing about what to wear. I will pick an outfit, then decide to I'll try something else on. This indecisiveness is the cause of a lot of my late arrivals. Oops.

The warmer weather means less layers and more free flowing attire. We can ditch the long sleeves for t-shirts and jeans for skirts or shorts. Also, our winter coats and jackets can be farewelled and we welcome our bikinis back. I have noticed that during the time of summer, body jewellery becomes more prominent, especially in regards to bikinis (belly piercings = everywhere). Many of my female friends have body piercings; nose and belly button. I've noticed that before approaching the swimwear season finding the right belly piercing is pivotal. I was recently introduced FreshTrends; a body jewellery store and of course had to tell my body pierced friends about it. So now for them the hunt is on for their summer nose/belly piercing.

Do you have any body piercings? How do you get ready for summer?

My everyday jewellery

Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs, Bangle: h&m, Bracelet: Tiffany & Co., Rings: h&m (I think)

Everyday before I leave my house I always grab my bag, phone, car keys and of course all the jewellery pieces I keep on my bedside table. These include my watch, two bracelets and using a couple of rings. Wearing jewellery daily is a routinised part of many people lives. It has become habitual for me to put on all the pieces before leaving the house and it's one of my favourite morning habits.

Jewellery pieces can hold a sentimental value and also bring another element to outfits (especially on those days where I have woken up late resulting in a very simple and lazy look). I love adding pieces of jewellery to my collection, whether they become part of my everyday look or if they are more of an occasional piece. I recently found an online store name Anjolee that stocks a wonderful range of beautiful and elegant pieces, including diamond studs. For me the Anjolee pieces would be occasional pieces that I would wear for nicer events such as a wedding or nice dinner. Here are some of my favourite bracelets from their range.

Sorry for the poor 'Game of Thrones' reference! I had to.

With Summer fast approaching now here in Australia it time to put away my coats, vest and knit jumpers and make room for lightweight dresses, crop tops, shorts and skirts. Every season I love to add extra pieces to my wardrobe to wear in various different outfits throughout the months. I recently found the online store MsFairy, which stocks a wide range of clothing, but most importantly many potential new pieces to add to my summer wardrobe. Scrolling through their endless skirts, dresses, tops, etc. it made me long for the continued hotter weather. Oh and this jumpsuit!

Hi there. It’s been quite some time (three months) since I’ve updated my blog. Time has flown by so quickly and so much has happened in university and life in general. I always kept in the back of my mind that I needed to update my blog, but I just never got around to actually sitting down and doing it. Three months later here I am wondering how in the world did I neglect it for so long, alongside my blog email inbox which is filled with unread emails.

Here’s to hoping that a major hiatus like that does not happen again.

The photos above are of the Japanese Gardens in Toowoomba. Toowoomba is a country town in Queensland that I visited during my winter break from University. It was such a pretty sight. I’m not sure if its psychological thing because Japanese Gardens are associated with peace and serenity, but whilst walking around and enjoying the views I honestly did feel so peaceful. Minus the large ducks (I’m terrified of birds) and the chilly wind.

I need that peace and serenity again. Exam time is fast approaching; wish me luck and good luck to all the university and high-school students going through it as well.

New in the closet..

Dress 1: Sea // Dress 2: Burberry // Shorts: Asos // Skirt 1: Asos // Skirt 2: Asos // Overalls: Asos
(all the items are currently on sale #yay)

University holidays have begun, which means that I have more time to fulfill my online shopping addiction. These items being the results of my free time.

I can spend what should be a productive day in front on my laptop screen clicking through endless pages of shirts, trousers, coats etc (essentially every category of fashion). Coinciding with my addiction is my ability to rationalise a ‘need’ for all items of clothing that I take a liking to, when in reality I really do not need them at all.

But addictions are hard to overcome, especially when I am constantly finding new online stores to spend too much browsing through. My latest find is ‘Simons’, which is an online store from Canada. I live in Australia, which unfortunately means that products here are usually more expensive than in other countries; so online stores from abroad that have better prices and low shipping rates are my savior. I love when an online store sells a wide variety of items; fashion and non-fashion related. It makes it easier for shipping but also the convenience in finding everything in one place. So as you can tell I spend way too long on my laptop browsing through ‘Simons’.

Working out with Divissima

Pants: Divissima, Top: Divissima, Shoes: Nike (similar)

I've definitely neglected exercise, my gym membership and a balanced diet lately. I keep saying to myself "okay, I'll start up tomorrow", but then instead of trying to get back into morning runs and hitting the gym I sleep in or think scrolling through Facebook is better use of my time. But seriously, I'm going to get back into it... maybe (I totally did not eat a fabulous burger for lunch).

I found that getting new work-out gear is a motivator for me and fortunately the lovely Divissima sent me new gear. I have a pair of their bikinis, which I love and you can see here. I received a sports bra and pants. I like wearing pants and a tank top over a sports bra whilst working-out, so these pieces were perfect for me. I wore them yesterday during a long walk outside, alongside a jumper and I was kept warm and comfortable. I'l definitely be wearing them again for future work-outs (which will happen! Hopefully).

What do you like wearing for work-outs? Also, what are your work-out habits (hopefully reading them will act a motivator for me)?

Thanks for reading!

Floral Midi-Skirt

Skirt: Asos (similar)// Top: Target (similar) //Shoes: Miss Shop (similar on sale)// Clutch: PopBasic// Sunnies: Asos// Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs// Bracelet: Tiffany & Co (similar)

Midi-skirts are possibly my favourite bottoms.

I have featured them a couple of times on my blog and I can't get enough.

In the age of short shorts, mini-skirts and bum cheek peering shorts (nothing against either of them) the length of a midi-skirt is a nice change. It's modest but not old-fashioned and whether you are wearing a full skirt version or a pencil skirt version they exert femininity and sophistication. Okay fan-girl moment about midi-skirts over.

Even though I'm quite short and therefore they may not look very flattering on me, it's nothing a nice pointed heel can't fix. I may get a bit jealous when I see a slim and tall girl killing it in a midi skirt and nice pair of flats.

What are your thoughts on midi-skirts?

Here are some other lovely midi-skirt I found: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Finally, back with an outfit post.

I was recently sent the Paloma collection by Pop Basic, which was this white tee, grey striped infinity scarf and grey clutch.
To say I was excited was an understatement.
My love for plain tees, stripes and grey were all ticked and present in this collection.

I have been yearning for a simple pouch like clutch for so long, but have just never got around to actually purchasing one. I could not be anymore happier with this clutch from the collection. Semi obsessed with it; the grey, rose gold zipper and medium size (loveee).

Whilst there has been a bit of a hiatus with my outfit posts recently, there definitely has not been a hiatus in my shopping. I probably have accumulated too much recently and makes me think I should join 'Shopaholics Anonymous'. The positive side to this addiction is that I have copious amounts of new pieces to style, wear out and thereby post on here.

Have a great day!

University: Year 1, Semester 1 down!

In a matter of 12 weeks my life has changed drastically. As corny as it sounds; it feels like yesterday when I wrote up my post ‘New Chapter: University’ regarding my reservations and nervousness about entering this new phase in my life.

It’s so strange reflecting from day 1 of university and how I felt entering those large fancy gates off to my first lecture to now (sitting on my bed procrastinating when I should be studying for exams). However, that strangeness is intertwined with some of the best and most fun moments I’ve ever had.

I feel like the introduction to my sporadic blog posts lately have been 'Oops haven't posted in however long; sorry!' To continue the trend, oops I haven't in 2 weeks!! Sorry!

I'm hopeless.

Someone please help to learn time management.

Anyway...
The weather in Melbourne lately has been quite cold, other than the forecast this week.
I definitely prefer winter style, layers all the way!
Coats (or capes), jeans, knit jumper and hats? Yes please.
The only thing downside is that once you're inside and heaters are blasting, you have to take off your excess layers and carry them (such a hard life).

Wednesday Adams

Collared Dress: Asos on sale!, Cat Eye Sunnies: Asos, Shoes: Asos on sale! (as you can see I have a shopping problem with Asos)

I can spend hours and hours scrolling through online sale pages, it's a serious problem. I hadn't online shopped, or even shopped in a while since starting university and the need accumulated and exploded on Asos' sale. My addiction told me I needed to compensate for all the shopping lost since my withdrawal and resulted in a wish list page worth too ridiculous to even write. Luckily I still had some self restraint and told myself I only needed 8 of the items.

This dress and the shoes were two of the purchases.
I told myself I needed a Wednesday Adams like dress, because who doesn't?
And I told myself I needed these shoes, because pointed heels and a chunky heel is just what every odd girl needs.

Here are a bunch of collared dresses I found on Asos on sale:

After what seemed like a very hot Summer, the weather has certainly cooled down. But in Melbourne there is no such thing as a transitional period it's hot one day and then bam it's cold. The last week has been consistent rain, which can be nice but not when your university campus is huge and you have to walk for about 10 minutes outside in the rain to get to your next lecture. As you can tell I became deeply reliant on my umbrella, hooded jumpers and leather protector for my bags and shoes (which I put on after the rain had drenched my boots and satchel, because I'm incredibly pragmatic).

Another item I have become deeply reliant on is this blazer. I love blazers and have them in different styles, but this boyfriend-like blazer has become my saviour in the morning. It's the only item I can quickly grab before I rush out the door so I don't miss my train and know in the back of my mind that it will suit whatever I'm wearing.

What's your item that you can quickly grab and know will suit your outfit?
